Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) here on Friday celebrated Yaum-e-Takbeer to commemorate sixth anniversary of atomic detonations by Pakistan.
In this connection a meeting was held at the residence of Hafiz Iqbal Khakwani. The speakers comprised former Senator Rafiq Rajwana, Bilal Butt, Rana Noor-ul-Hassan, Hafiz Iqbal Khakwani, Syed Zaman Shah, Munir Akhtar Langah, Imtiaz Gulzar Chatan and Shaikh Ehsanuddin Qureshi paid rich tributes to Mian Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistani scientists for carrying out the task.
They lamented that those who had given a sense of sovereignty and made the nation an atomic power were forcibly exiled and the democratic forces were being suppressed.
"The nation was passing through a critical phase as all the four provinces were at loggerheads and inflation rate and unemployment were at their peak", they said. They bitterly criticised the policies of General Pervez Musharraf.
